Blog Tour: As Long As You Love Me by Ann Aguirre

Most people dream about getting out of Sharon, Nebraska, but after three years away, Lauren Barrett is coming home. There are the justifications she gives to everyone else—missing her family, losing her college scholarship. And then there’s the reason Lauren can’t admit to anyone: Rob Conrad, her best friend’s older brother.

Football prowess and jaw-dropping good looks made Rob a star in high school. Out in the real world, his job and his relationships are going nowhere. He can’t pinpoint exactly what’s missing until Lauren comes back to town, bringing old feelings and new dreams with her. But he’s the guy that women love and leave—not the one who makes them think of forever.

Though she’s terrified of opening up, Lauren’s ready to take that chance. Because the only thing more important than figuring out where you truly belong is finding the person you were meant to be with.

Read the first chapter of HERE!

After failing her way (intentionally) out of school, Lauren returns home to small town Sharon, Nebraska. Fighting her own internal demons, she's finding it tough to find her niche in life. She bumps into her best friend's older brother at the store one of her first nights back and they quickly fall into a comfortable routine getting back in touch with each other. Lauren and Rob find that together they can grow and conquer their insecurities and forge their own paths in life despite how people look down upon them.

It was hard not to absolutely fall for Rob. I think the fact that he had so much to offer, yet, didn't see even a bit of it made him that much more endearing. It's a nice change from the typical cocky alpha male in most stories. I love everything that he does and it's almost odd how much he's been keeping back from Lauren because she's his sister's best friend. But all that goes away the second he gets confirmation that Lauren's childhood crush has survived after all these years. When he loves, he really, truly gives everything and I really admire that about him. Lauren, on the other hand, didn't really do much for me. Her story didn't really captivate me but she (in my mind) played a good supporting role to Rob so it worked out in the end.

So the insta-love that goes on between the two isn't my favourite. Yes, they had feelings from the past but the seemingly just fall into each other's laps after they see each other. However, there's enough going on with Rob's character to keep me interested. It was a bit farfetched in the events--ex and current girlfriends becoming good friends....commmonnnnn... but my love for Rob kept me reading to the end.
