Bailout was a good continuation of the series. It picks up right where Booker left off. Kat's secret is out and now we are watching how everything is unfolding. We get a lot more of Kat's back story in this book and it's heavy. When the two wind back up in the same space, they get a big surprise that intertwines the two even further. Sam steps up and we get to see both him and Kat both doing what they need to better build a life together.   I didn't feel overly connected to either Kat or Sam--I didn't find either of them relatable. That being said, this book (and series) moves fast and is still an enjoyable read.

When I started this book, the first thought to cross my mind was that whole love at first sight is always so cheesy. The way Booker fell for Kat before even opening his eyes was a bit farfetched but, hey, it worked out for them. For most of the book, I felt like Booker was a bit over the top with his insta-obsession for Kat so much so that I almost felt bad for Kat for having to deal with his over the top feelings (that, at times, gave me the "but why?"). There was not enough character and story development for my liking and it felt like the story ended up moreso just moving from one steamy scene to the next and less of a developing story. The ending was not what I expected, leaving me with a lot of questions to be answered but I supposed that's what a cliffhanger is all about--left me wanting to read the next book just to get some closure from this first book!

So I jumped into this series from the second book, More Than Cookies, and I'm loving it! We got a small glimpse of Hope and Adam in the last book and here we get to watch their relationship really blossom. I found this book a super sweet one, too. The story and the characters are just wholesome and loveable. Watching Adam grow and heal as a person was heartwarming to see. Hope and Adam help each other out in that respect, gaining trust and forging ahead together. This was a sweet story, look forward to reading more!

I read this book as a standalone and can say I thoroughly enjoyed the story without reading the first book. The characters are easy to like and the drama, twists and turns keep you reading onwards. Sage starts this story off pretty much having sworn off guys. Orion has been burned by his ex-wife and is trying to get some semblance of his happy life back. The two cross paths and, boom, a sweet romance blossoms. Didn't love the insta-love that seemed to happen (especially considering Orion's background) but there aren't too many books out there that aren't like this these days. More Than Cookies was easy to read as a standalone and I would definitely read the rest of the series, too!
